The long-awaited Milan Fashion Week 2020 is upon us. For many, the event represents a declaration of recovery and a desire to relaunch the importance of the various activities of the sector, including the Spring-Summer 2021 fashion shows.
This year, a hybrid combination of virtual and physical shows will be the protagonist of the new glamorous edition. It will also allow a wider audience to participate in the exclusive viewing of part of the fashion shows together with the most acclaimed guests of the fashion universe. From the 22nd to the 28th September, in compliance with the health regulations of the Covid-19 contagion, 86 real events will take place in the Lombard capital. Among them, Dolce & Gabbana, Etro, Max Mara, MSGM, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace. For the first time, the Maison Valentino leaves Paris and it is welcomed in Italy, as well as Fendi, which will debut in Milan instead of Rome. Among the remaining virtual events, Prada by Raf Simons, Missoni, Ermanno Scervino, DSquared2, GCDS and Moschino will show the world their collections through social platforms and on the website of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, as well as Giorgio Armani live on the channel La7.

In addition to the present brands, there will equally be important absents. Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Missoni have decided to refrain from attending the Fashion Week, giving up the consequent significant media push and altering the balance of the traditional sector dynamics.

In spite of everything, Carlo Capasa, president of the CNMI, said he was hopeful towards this new edition, for which many fashion companies have shown great courage and a synergic desire to start over.
