“DES ATELIER”: Valentino’s Haute Couture in Venice
Valentino's "Des Atelier" haute couture show was held in the beautiful setting of Venice at Le Gaggiandre, the historic aquatic canopies built in the 1500s as a port for boats. Guests were dressed in total white, while beautiful dresses exploding with colors, shapes and signs paraded down the runway.

"Venice was part of the vision I had from the very beginning: it was the only place in the world in which to present such a collection, and it is a context in which nothing can be added or taken away: the light and power of Venice is the perfect setting in which to immerse my work," the creative director wrote in the show notes.

The purpose that Piccioli wanted to convey was that of transforming ideas into objects. A process typical of art and achievable only through Haute Couture. The creative director, as is now customary, has completely relied on the wise and magical hands of his craftsmen who have created, together with some contemporary painters and artists, real works of art. In fact, according to Piccioli: "Painting is to contemporary art as Haute Couture is to fashion".

There were 84 looks, both male and female. The protagonist of the catwalk was color in all its intensity. A riot of pastel colors from yellow to fuchsia and the incredible tailoring of the clothes have enchanted the spectators present live but also those at home. Balloon minidresses and red carpet dresses for her, complete with tailored pants, short-sleeved shirt, and cape for him were the testimony of the sophistication and genius of Valentino's creative director: Pierpaolo Piccioli.
